How do I put this six speed in my camaro?
I have a 91 camaro with an automatic 4 speed. Please don't laugh, i have been ridiculed for not being able to afford a manual for a long time already. I joined acn so now i have money to blow. I bought this 97 camaro with a six speed in it. How do i put the six speed in my camaro. I am not a mechanic. and I am not going to take it to a shop. Everything that has happened to my car I have done myself. I have swapped the motor but i have never swapped a tranny. I am very technical so i pick up on this stuff easy. All i need is an explanation of what to do in what order and what not to do as I go.

As long as they are both v8 cars the trans swap should be pretty simple, you will need the bellhousing, clutch and trans from the donor car, a flywheel for your engine that matches the diameter of the donor cars clutch, and either the trans crossmember, modify your stock one, or purchase a stock one for your car with a manual tranny. You will also either need the driveshaft from the donor car, or to have one built, and to cut a hole for the 6spd shifter in the trans tunnel. Once all of that is done, you still need to figure the clutch arrangement out, the easiest way to get the pedal in place will be to use a pedal assembly from a 83-92 car with a manual. If they are both originally hydraulic clutches it will be as simple as routing the line and adding a clutch master cylinder to the firewall after that.
What 'tard ridiculed you for not having a manual? Autos are more consistent on the 'strip any day of the week, and when properly prepped are faster as well. The only place the manual provides any advantage is a road race course.
