Sebring Convertible Drives
Knocking sound coming from drive shaft of 2004 sebring covertible..?
I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible (2.7L), with aprox 48000 mi on it. When I am driving at a low RPM or braking in stop and go traffic, I start to hear a knocking noise that seems to be coming from underneath the drive shaft. I can feel the vibration in the steering wheel. It doesn't make a noise when I'm in neutral.
This noise seems to come and go; sometimes it sounds like popcorn popping, and other times I won't hear it at all. Any clue as to what's happening? Thanks!
Your axle shafts are probably bad see if it makes the noise when you turn as your driving. If it does its your axle shafts.

Safer Convertibles
Convertibles have a unique appeal them. There are some consumers out there who won't settle for anything less than driving behind the wheel of a convertible. The biggest challenge that the auto industry has had over the years, is making a convertible safe to drive. Rollover accidents have always been a concern for the car, while manufacturers have taken steps to improve the performance of convertibles by using innovated design features, stronger materials and adding safety features found in hardtops.

It got five stars in every category including front-impact driver safety, side-impact driver safety, side impact driver safety, side-impact rear passenger safety, and low likelihood of a rollover.
