Chevy Astro Cargo
White smoke or steam coming from the left cargo area inside of vehicle while driving. 1998 Chevy Astro Van.?
My father-in-law has a 1998 Chevy Astro Van that may have a bad rear heater core or a bad hose. We've decided to replace both. While driving, you can see & hear what looks & sounds like hot air and steam coming from the interior cargo area on the driver side. We were told that it was the rear heater core or a leak in its heater hose. Is it pretty simple to remove and replace this part? Don't have the owners' manual. All helps, guides, instructions, etc. will be much appreciated. mindixon@att.net.
you should determine the source of the leak before driving the vehicle any more. Turn on the van and examine where the leak is coming from. A busted hose is easy to replace or splice. make sure you use good hose clamps and metal plumbing hardware (not plastic) if you splice a heater hose. a worse case scenario is a busted gasget or water pump.
